Our team

The Fresh Expressions Core Team work from their homes around the country, meeting together regularly as a team or in smaller hubs.

We also have a network of Fresh Expressions Associates around the country.

Our team


Phil was appointed Archbishops' Missioner and Leader of the Fresh Expressions team from May 2014. As well as leading the team and implementing the overall strategic aims, Phil is involved in continuing to develop Church of England policy to allow fresh expressions of church to flourish.

Phil has PA support from Suzie Wall.

Pete joined the team in 2006 and is currently working part-time as Team Coordinator, having previously convened the Training Hub and coordinated the mission shaped ministry course for the team.

Pete has PA support from Kath Atkins.

A long-time Associate Missioner of Fresh Expressions, Tim joined the team in 2013 to look after our programme of vision days across the UK. From June 2015 he took on a new role coordinating many of the projects the team is undertaking.

Sheonagh joined the Fresh Expressions team in May 2009 and looks after finances and budgeting, as well as organising meetings, events and anything else she can get her hands on.

Partner hub

Graham joined the team in September 2015. His key task is the continuing development of policy and change to support fresh expressions across the Methodist Church.

Linda joined the team in September 2011. Her remit is to find out how local URC churches are establishing new ways of being church and encourage them to explore developing fresh expressions of church. She also heads up the development of our mission shaped intro course.

Andrew joined the team in June 2013. His role is to get The Salvation Army planting fresh expressions of church across the country, continuing the long history of church planting in The Salvation Army.

Wayne joined the team in November 2012 on behalf of the European Region of the Council for World Mission (CWM-Europe). As well as supporting fresh expressions of church in CWM-Europe member churches, Wayne works part-time with us to field international enquiries.

David joined the Fresh Expressions team in February 2014 on behalf of the Church of Scotland.

Michael joined the team in 2004 and is now Director of network development and Consultant on theology and practice, drawing together what is being learnt about fresh expressions of church, as well as the education, training and networking of future leaders of fresh expressions.
